![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You are attacked by three vyrewatches, they're about level 98, so they're no big deal, especially if you use Sunspear. Now you and Aeonisig Raispher (the king's advisor), Captain Rovin, and two other guards go to the temple near the Salve to find some way to strengthen the barrier. Now that Vanescula has icyene blood in her veins (from biting Safalaan in the Lord of Vampyrium) that's a problem, especially since she wants vampyres to live as they did in the Second Age (Runescape is currently in its Sixth Age, this quest takes place in the Fifth Age), with humans farmed for food (some not all of them). Creatures associated with Saradomin (i.e. The river Salve used to act as a holy barrier which prevented vampyres and werewolves and other creatures of Zamorak from crossing it. You start off in Varrock where you tell King Roald about the upcoming threat of a vampyre army crossing the Salve. You most likely have the rest of the items (Sunspear and the wolfbane dagger) in your bank. The Guthix balance potion requires a trip to the Ectofundus to crush a silver bar for silver dust (but that's a piece of cake if you have the Ectofundus teleport) and garlic, but I think you can get that by teleporting to Draynor, running south to Morgan's house and searching the drawers upstairs. Potions are super easy, provided you have the ingredients, and every mid-high levelled player has herbs in their bank. Blisterwood isn't hard to get, as long as you have Drakan's medallion, silver isn't hard to get either, just teleport to Varrock with loadstones, go west to the mines, then teleport to Lumbridge to smelt and smith it. You can easily buy steel helms from the store in Barbarian Village, platebodies from the store Varrock, platelegs from the one in Al Kharid, you can easily teleport there, or in the case of the first store, teleport to Lumbridge then use the canoe system. All the items you need-a Guthix balance potion, a super restore potion, 3 steel helms, platebodies and platelegs, 2 blisterwood sickles, a blisterwood polearm, 2 blisterwood logs, a wolfbane dagger, Sunspear, and any blisterwood weapon, they're not hard to get. Gameplay wise, it was fun, and despite being labelled as a grandmaster quest, it was pretty simple. ![]() So I said "fuck it, who cares if I might end up in a boss fight I'm completely unprepared for? I want to see this storyline resolved" and I rushed through this quest. I didn't want to wait anymore, especially not after seeing the epic promotional concept art of some guy with a crown (I think it's King Roald) fighting a werewolf, with both of their armies backing them. I prefer a through, completed guide because I like to know what I'm going to be up against, hence the wait.īut I decided to make an exception with River of Blood, the finale of the Myreque storyline (the only other time I've done this is with The Light Within where you have to restore Seren the goddess of the elves), because of the hype, speculation and unanswered questions surrounding the quest, like is Safalaan really dead, or will he turn into a vampyre after Vanescula's bitten him? Will he become another one of her servants? Speaking of Vanescula, what will become of her and her plan to cross the Salve River? Is she going to succeed? Are we going to fight her after killing her brother Drakan in the previous quest? Who's the prisoner locked in the cellars in Castle Drakan? Is it really Efaritay, icyene queen of Hallowvale before Drakan took over, or is it a completely new character? What about Ascertes, the former king of Hallowvale? Did he die or was he turned into a vampyre? If it's the latter, did he become Vanstrom? How will the king of Varrock fight back against the vampyres? Even with Runescape's active and dedicated community, the best you can hope for is a half-finished guide. I like to wait until someone's made a proper quest guide on the Runescape wiki, and you just don't get that on the very day of release. Normally, I don't do quests on the day of release. ![]()
